Divination is a method of finding out what lies beneath the surface of things. It is defined as 'the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means', ie. by methods are more than mundane.

Divination can be done by using an oracle, such as the Tarot cards, Runes, I Ching, with a pendulum or crystal ball, scrying in a fire or in water, by casting lots, or with the Ogham.

The use of the Ogham in divination is not very well documented, and there are many different ways that people have been taught to do this. Not all of them are accurate, unfortunately, as there have been people over the last few decades simply trying to cash in on the popularity of everything Celtic, with ignorant misapplication of native Irish culture, including the Ogham writing system.

The most common way to perform divination is to choose a tool with which you're comfortable, such as the Ogham. You then ask questions about your life and wait for answers from the Spirit of Ogham; or your own Gods, Guides and Guardians, who may communicate with you through the Ogham.

This can be done either verbally, by asking aloud, or by writing down your question on paper. When you write your question, you should try to keep it simple so that you don't confuse things, especially if you are relatively new to this. You might want to consider asking one question at a time.

Divination can help us understand ourselves better. If we know how our lives work, we will be able to make changes when needed. This could include changing jobs, relationships, health, hobbies, or figuring out what changes you need to make in any area of your life.

The Ogham alphabet consists of 20 original letters, or feda, and 5 'extra letters', or forfeda. These do not represent the 26 letters of the English alphabet, because the Ogham alphabet was developed to express the sounds of the Irish language. Each letter has its own meaning and its own sound.

In the Irish Manuscript tradition, each of the Ogham feda also has it's own 'kennings', or word poems, called the Bríatharogaim. You can use these lists as divinatory insights, or learn your own in time.

Modern Druids use many different forms of divination, including the use of Ogham. The Ogham is a powerful tool for divination, but it requires some training and experience before you can begin to interpret the messages you receive.

Sitters can pick and choose which parts of their lives they want to explore through ogham casting. We could also combine this techniques with other forms of divination, such as tarot, oracle cards, or astrology, but with practice the ogham is a very efficient and complete system for divination.

Ogham divination is a great way to learn about yourself and your life. It's easy to learn, fun to do, and gives you a lot of insight into your life. If you would like to learn more about Ogham Divination, you can take a class here.
